Prep guide: How to get ready for your session
Grooming and Appearance
- Bathe or Brush: If your pet needs a bath or brushing, aim to do it a day before the session so they look their best.
- Avoid Harnesses for the Best Photos: If possible, have your pet wear a simple collar rather than a harness for the session. Harnesses can be distracting in photos, and unfortunately, they’re tricky to edit out. A simple collar keeps the focus on your pet’s adorable expressions and unique features!
Bring Treats and Familiar Toys
- Bring their favorite treats, as these are excellent for catching their attention and rewarding them for posing. A squeaky toy or a ball can help keep them engaged.
Pre-Session Walk for a Relaxed Pet
- A short 15-30 minute walk before the session helps your pet release some energy, so they’re more relaxed and ready for their close-up! A little exercise works wonders for keeping your pet engaged and comfortable.
Practice Commands
- If your pet knows commands like “sit,” “stay,” or “come,” practice them before the session. These basics make it easier to position your pet and capture great shots.
Pack Essentials
- Don’t forget the essentials like a water bowl, leash, and waste bags. Hydration and comfort are important for a happy pet during the shoot.
